Whom do we help?
Friends of Forests and Farms (FFF for short) has channeled its assistance to rural communities in Oaxaca, one of the poorest and least developed states in Mexico.
How do we help?
Through donations, technical assistance, and capacity building, we support undertakings identified by leaders and residents as being of priority importance to the well-being of their communities.
What do we help?
Our mission focuses on conservation of forests and their biodiversity, water sources and usage, and sustainable agriculture.
Focus for Impact
To maximize our impact, we have concentrated efforts since our inception in 2008 on the community of San Pablo Etla, which has demonstrated a significant and sustained commitment to sustainable conservation of its over 5,000 acres of communal forests and water resources. This is one of the most significant protected forests adjacent to the capital city Oaxaca de Juárez, providing water, CO2 capture, and habitat for endangered and other fauna and flora. Through its reclamation of degraded lands and an accompanying innovative environmental education program, San Pablo Etla is also serving as a demonstration and learning site not only for its own community, but also for others as well. Its environmental education has especially aimed at children who will be the future stewards of the natural resources. It has received national and international recognition for its community-based conservation.
